Protur Hotels’ Green Campaigns

More than a decade ago, at Protur Hotels we launched our first campaigns in favour of the environment within our hotel chain. Today, the group's environment department manages a large number of environmental campaigns involving different areas of the company.

These actions, which involve all our staff and which we also try to transfer to our guests, have allowed us to greatly reduce our impact on our direct environment & improve our ecological footprint on the planet, an achievement that we intend to be the first of many.

Main areas of pro-environment actions

The vast majority of the actions taken by Protur Hotels to protect the environment, as well as the plan of attack for years to comes, move within 3 extensive areas: commitment to energy efficiency throughout the hotel chain to achieve self-sufficiency in consumption, the reduction & selective management of waste and the optimisation of water consumption ENERGY EFFICIENCY

• Reduction in 18% of our carbon footprint (even after having increased the number of hotels).
• Replacement of halogen bulbs with LEDs in rooms & public areas
• Replacement of cooling plants in the catering areas of some hotels
• Improvements in hotel insulation
• Automatic entrance doors to avoid the escape of cold / hot air.
• Installation of air curtains in access to outside public areas
• Replacement of air conditioning and hot water pipes.
• Heat recovery systems in heated swimming pools
• Production of Sanitary Hot Water without emission of CO2

Protur Hotels has installed a 2,767 kWp photovoltaic park, Protur Natura, located on plots adjacent to the Club Protur Sa Coma Resort. This installation, which supplies energy from renewable sources to the Resort's facilities, consisting of 5 hotels and a Spa, generated 3,683 MWh of energy in 2022, which meant a reduction of 2,513 tonnes of CO2.

The total investment in the Protur Natura Photovoltaic Park was 2,148,098€, of which 251,460€ was financed by the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the ERDF Operational Programme 2014-2020.

The Protur Bonaire Aparthotel in Cala Bona has also opted for renewable energy with the installation of a 107 kWp photovoltaic system on the rooftops of the hotel buildings. This installation generated 140 MWh of energy in 2022, resulting in a reduction of 72 tonnes of CO2.

The investment in the installation was 136,85 €, of which 21,721€ were financed by the European Union.

With these initiatives, Protur Hotels reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and the reduction of its carbon footprint.

For the initial launch of the Protur Natura photovoltaic park in Sa Coma, Protur Hotels has received financial aid from the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund, ERDF Operational Programme 2014-2020. WASTE MANAGEMENT

• Almost 30% reduction in waste
• 50% increase in selective collection
• Reduction in the use of polluting chemicals for disinfection
• Use of the pruning material from the hotel gardens as Biomass
• Sustainable toiletries in all rooms (no single-use plastics)
• Recycling of glass, paper & cardboard in all hotels

WATER CONSUMPTION

• 24,000 m3 reduction in water consumption in the last 7 years
• Use of natural saline chlorinators to disinfect swimming pool water
• Automatic pool filling systems to avoid water loss
• Installation of eco-filtering glass in swimming pools
• New descaling equipment, with less water & salt consumption
• Timer taps in the public areas of all hotels
• Strengthening of swimming pool & watering protocols
