Palma

Capital of the Balearic Islands & the nerve centre of Mallorca, Palma is a vibrant & cosmopolitan city with that Mediterranean charm that makes it a unique refuge for those looking for an urban getaway full of interesting things to do, nature and, of course, the sea.

The beautiful bay of Palma takes in some of the most famous & most visited beaches on the island, such as Playa de Palma or Cala Major. From the Parc de la Mar to the road to Bellver Castle, its natural spaces fill the whole city with life & offer a perfect atmosphere to relax and enjoy a pleasant stroll. But Palma, although quiet, is still a city and it offers endless possibilities: shopping, museums, gastronomy & unforgettable nights.

Moreover, the climate is perfect: with maximums of around 30 degrees in summer and 12 in winter. It seldom rains, and the sun shines practically every day of the year. It’s ideal to enjoy walks by the sea, outdoor sports & romantic dinners on its wonderful terraces

The Arab Baths
Perhaps the most representative example of Arabic architecture & art in Palma can be found just a short distance from Palma Cathedral. We are referring to the so-called Arab Baths, located on Can Serra street, within the Can Pit gardens, one of the typical stately homes of the city. Although of the whole original structure only the central & adjoining rooms are preserved, it’s still possible to perfectly see what this classic hamman & its beautiful Arab gardens looked like.

Bellver Castle
The Gothic-style Bellver Castle is located some 3 km away from the city centre, on top of one of the highest hills in Palma. There is a good walking tour to get there, although you can also get there by car. It is well worth a visit for its natural surroundings, its wonderful panoramic views of the entire city and also because it houses the Museum of the History of the City of Palma.

Palma Cathedral
Known by the locals as "La Seu", it’s an architectural jewel of Levantine Gothic style that enjoys a privileged setting on the seashore. The characteristic that makes it unique is that it boasts the largest Gothic rose window in the whole world. There are almost 90 other windows as well as another 6 rose windows, creating an amazing play of light inside. Also within its walls you can see a charismatic work by the famous Majorcan artist Miquel Barceló.

The Almudaina Palace
Located right next to the Cathedral is the Royal Palace of Palma, although the current royal family doesn’t use it as a residence but as a venue for their famous summer receptions. This fortress has undergone a number of changes throughout its history and in its stones you can still see legacy left by Arabs & Romans. The most current elements of decoration belong to different periods ranging from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.

The Parc de la Mar
This is the park located just below the Cathedral & the Almudaina Palace, behind the imposing walls of the city of Palma. There is a central lake in which these spectacular historical buildings are reflected and there are several routes through its beautiful gardens of Mediterranean vegetation. Locals often use the park to meet up in the afternoons, read on the grass, play sports and go for walks with their children. The centre of the lake is also used as a venue for events.

The Port of Palma
The area of the port closest to the city centre, located a short distance from the Cathedral and our hotel, is a perfect place to observe the imposing pleasure boats that gather in this corner of the Mediterranean. Likewise, the new area of restaurants & cafés, built in height as a viewpoint, offers impressive views of the entire coastline.

La Lonja
Just opposite the port you’ll find La Lonja (Sa Llotja), a building of unique Gothic beauty that was salvaged & has recently been fully restored. This was, for centuries, the meeting point for fishermen who arrived at the port of the city loaded with fresh fish. This cargo was sold at the fish market & from there it went to the different markets of the island. Today it is used as an art exhibition hall & has extensive visiting hours

The Contemporary Art Museum Es Baluard
Palma offers visitors a wide range of museums and one of its the most interesting is undoubtedly the city's Museum of Contemporary Art, located just a few metres from our hotel. Its location, in front of the port and on the city walls, make it a unique space from which to enjoy beautiful views of the Paseo Marítimo. Inside, it houses full collections of local artists as well as international travelling exhibitions. And outside, it offers an inviting terrace to enjoy a refreshment.
