Cala Ratjada

Located in the north east tip of Mallorca, in the municipal district of Capdepera, Cala Ratjada is a resort where life is enjoyably calm. Despite the passing of the years and being one of the key tourist centres of Mallorca, Cala Ratjada retains all the charm of that small fishing village that it once was.

Its beaches are well known all over the world, especially Cala Agulla beach: a true paradise on earth with crystal clear waters, fine sand & Mediterranean pine forests, located right where the great Nature Park of the Llevant Peninsula begins. Next to Cala Agulla there are other small coves as well as extensive & wide sandy beaches such as Son Moll, with little waves that will delight both adults & kids.

With an exceptional climate, where the sun shines practically all year round, and with average temperatures of 20 degrees, Cala Ratjada offers a wide variety of possibilities to fill you day: shopping, cultural routes, hiking, cycling, horseback riding... and the best exciting plans to enjoy during the inviting Mediterranean evenings of your next holiday.

Cala Ratjada´s sea port
Cala Ratjada port is a refuge for both fishermen's boats and recreational yachts. There are also boats that go on trips along the coast, including a daily one between Cala Ratjada and the port of Ciutadella port on the neighbouring island of Menorca. It's an exciting port, full of good restaurants and bars.

Caves of Artà
The Caves of Artà are just 10 minutes from Cala Ratjada and they are just as spectacular, in their own way, as the Caves of Drach in Porto Cristo. In fact, they have a privileged setting, in Cap Vermell, the heart of the Canyamel coast. The entrance is on a small cliff above the sea and inside there are several rooms where, in addition to being able to contemplate gardens of stalactites and stalagmites, a show of lights & impressive music take place on each visit.

Capdepera Lighthouse
Capdepera Lighthouse is located in the north eastern tip of Mallorca and has been operating since 1861. The natural environment in which it is set is a joy to behold in itself, including an entire area of virgin coastline of astonishing beauty: rocks that make up sheer cliffs, wild mountain flowers mixed with Mediterranean vegetation, small pine trees that sway in the wind… and on the clearest day you can see the island of Menorca.

The fishing port
The port of Cala Ratjada is one of those that still maintains its daily activity in Mallorca: the well known red prawns of Mallorca & delicious fresh rock fish, some of the true treasures of the Mediterranean arrive there. The port offers postcard prints, with sailors weaving their nets and traditional llaüt boats going out to sea. From here some pleasure boats & excursions also depart visiting the entire coast of Cala Ratjada.

Peninsula de Llevant Nature Park
With an unspoilt, virgin area of more than 1600 hectares, the Peninsula de Llevant Nature Park is one of Mallorca’s great treasures. One of the last spaces as yet untouched by man, an oasis in which to reconnect with nature, in an unspoilt state. It offers lots of routes & amazing places such as the Cap Ferrutx and Cap des Freu nature reserves, with sheer cliffs on the coast that will leave you speechless.

Capdeper's Castle
Capdepera Castle is one of the most famous in Mallorca. It dates back to 1337 and it is said that it was King Jaume II himself who commissioned its construction to protect the people from possible attacks by sea. The castle is sober, with very simple lines and stands out especially for its great wall, within which the king ordered the entire town to be concentrated. Thus, when we look at Capdepera from afar, we see a large walled hill with 3 towers & a church on top.

Can March Palace (Sa Torre cega)
The impressive gardens & sculptures that inhabit therein welcome visitors to the March Palace. This “palace” built on the so-called Torre Cega (15th century coastal defence & surveillance tower ) was used by the powerful March Servera family for their recreation & entertainment. It is an example of modernism & regionalism that stands on the coast of Cala Ratjada. In it, the Fundació Bartolomé March organises art exhibitions & concerts from time to time.
